![]() Michael Isnardi Michael Isnardi received his doctorate from MIT's Media Laboratory in 1986. That same year, he joined the David Sarnoff Research Center (now called Sarnoff Corporation), as a Member of Technical Staff, where he developed the Advanced Compatible Television System, the first advanced TV system tested by the FCC. He is now Head of the Compression Systems Group at Sarnoff, where he manages development of Digital Television technology and Test and Measurement tools, including Sarnoff's Compliance Bitstreams product, which received a Technical Emmy Award. He is currently managing technology that enables commercial and government clients to make a cost-effective transition to Digital TV. In June 2000, he received the David Sarnoff Award, which is the Sarnoff Corporation's highest award for technical achievement. Michael has been awarded 26 U.S. patents. He is an active member of the ATSC, SMPTE and is a Senior Member of the IEEE. In June 2000, he received an IEEE Third Millennium Medal from the Consumer Electronics Society and is the technical program committee chair for the 2001 International Conference on Consumer Electronics. He has presented many tutorials on MPEG and Digital TV to the broadcast and consumer electronics industries. Michael lives with his wife and four daughters in New Jersey. |
