![]() Dr. Paul Moroney Dr. Paul Moroney is Vice President of Advanced Technology for the Broadband Communications Sector of Motorola [formerly General Instrument]. The Advanced Technology group, located in San Diego, does research and development in areas that may lead to BCS products in the 2 to 5 year time frame. Paul received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1979. With Linkabit Corporation, and then General Instrument, he led the systems development for VideoCipher II+, the access control system that currently dominates United States C Band satellite programming. Paul was subsequently responsible for the systems architecture and systems definition for the DigiCipher I and DigiCipher II secure digital television product areas, including extensive participation in the MPEG-2 standards process, and he received an Emmy award for his work in digital television. Through his work, Dr. Moroney has authored or co-authored over 45 publications and patents. Currently, Dr. Moroney and his Advanced Technology group are focused on multimedia research, including MPEG-4 and streaming media, security engineering, advanced communications, and next generation platforms. |
